Chris’s Bachelor Party (1/31 – 2/1/09)
My good friend Chris Geiges is getting married and his two best men organized a nice Bachelor Party for him in St. Louis. It was a full two day event just packed with activities. Unfortunately I was only good for the first day/night.
I arrived at the hotel shortly after the majority of attendees. There was a small dark colored car that “flew” past me on the way up and I just knew it had to Be those guys. The license plates were “Fly Low 3″, fitting for a fly boy or instructor wouldn’t you say. Sure enough, on pulling into the Hotels drive in there was the car with the plates. I pulled into the registration area and the lads piled out of the Irish Pub adjoined to the hotel and joined me at the desk to check into our rooms.
I went up and threw my bag on the bed and immediately headed down to the pub to rejoin the guys. There was a good group there for the first day of activities. Me, Todd, Herb, Lennie, Dave, Aaron, Doug, Les and of course Chris. Robert joined the group and took my place the next day. We ordered rounds of drinks and appetizers, enjoyed each others company, talked old times and solved the world’s Banking crisis. Unfortunately none us can remember what that solution was although I am sure that profits went up for several breweries that day.
Afterwards we headed out for the Hockey game. Catching the Metro was an exciting even all in itself but a
nice ride to the game. Dave had obtained seats for all of us, as usual you had to be under 5’7″ and 130 lbs to fit into them comfortably. Still, the view from the seats was excellent (most of us ignored the nose bleeds from the altitude) and the game was very exciting. The Blues won 5 to 0 over the Flyers for all you fans. Everyone enjoyed the game and it was a nice little break from all the drinking. Afterwards some of us took a taxi back while the rest rode the Metro. At least we got to see Barbi and Ken laying on the train tracks doing God knows what. Ken was naked and Barbi had her “Tramp” outfit on.
Back at the Hotel it was another round of beers while we talked sports and other exciting topics. It was then decided that we would go to the Casino and do a little gambling. We pooled $25 and put it on “Black” at a roulette table, naturally “Red” came up. That kind of reminded me why I am not a big fan of Casino gambling. Horses, Dogs or other sporting events have to be involved for me to enjoy gambling. So at this point we split up for a little bit. Those with the gambling itch went their way and those of us without retired to the lounge and had a few more cocktails where we caught up on what was happening in our lives.
The gamblers eventually got bored or lost all the money they could afford to and we decided to head over to one of the Bars on the landing. I can’t remember the name of the place but there are two guys playing requests on pianos. They also do song variations if it’s a persons birthday or “Bachelor Party”. Not being shy I headed up to the stage and slipped the performers a tip to get Chris on stage and embarrass him. So the next time you see him ask him about the song “She Wore and Itsy Bitsy Teeny Wenny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”. He took it like a champ though and the whole audience got into the act.
When this place closed they all headed back to the Casino, it was way past my bed time so I deserted them and headed back to the Hotel. For further information on this part you will have to quiz the other attendees. I am sure they continued to have a blast.
