Happy July 4th, The Book, Transformers 3, Dieta de Pollo

Sorry for the long span of days between this and my last post. I started coming down with a cold on Monday and it knocked me out for a couple of days. Monday morning I went to the Patio to meet Larry for discussion on the book. He didn’t show and I received an E-mail later telling me he couldn’t make it. So I ended up sitting outside for a couple of hours on a cold rainy day in Miraflores. Came home with that tickling feeling at the back of my throat which always indicates that I am coming down with a cold. Sure enough, Tuesday it kicked in full blast. I went to bed at 5pm and didn’t get up till 8am the next day. Wednesday was rough but my buddy Steve went out and got my some Dieta de Pollo (Chicken Soup Peruvian Style). He bought enough to last me two days although, I was feeling better after the first bowl. I swear they should can this stuff and sell it as health food or a remedy for the common cold at the very least. It has rained here for the last five days so I haven’t missed much.

A belated Happy July 4th to my country and fellow Americans. I didn’t do anything here but I know they had firework displays in several parts of the city. Small ones, which I imagine were put on by various expat groups in the city. ACAP (American Canadian Assoc. of Peru) had a picnic in Cineguilla, it was a miserable day so I didn’t go. Maybe next year.

Over the weekend and today, I managed to get three new chapters done in the book and some editing on others. I felt good that 1000 of those words came today, despite still feeling the effects of the cold. Larry is having a lot of problems, none that I need to go into here, so I am working on the book alone for now. At least until he can completely recover from whatever was ailing him and other issues that are plaguing his family. I hope all his problems are resolved soon. I miss our weekly meetings.

I went to see Transformers 3 with Antonio this past weekend. It’s a long movie (almost 3 hours) with a lot of action. I’m not a big fan of the Transformer movies but if you are, this one if the best of the three as far as I’m concerned. You should go see it on the big screen. There is so much going on that watching it on a TV would take away from some of the effects. I give it 2½ Llamas on my rating scale.

Hope all of you have a great weekend coming up. My sister tells me that they are having some wonderful warm weather up in Illinois. I could use a little sun right about now. Till next time, take a look inside and out, appreciate what you do have. There’s plenty of time for regret later.
